π¨Common Use Cases
Mingles
Mingles is an awesome social club bringing together Tequila and web3 enthusiasts. With the guiding vision of decentralizing a Tequila distillery, the Mingles community uses ONCE protocol for the various tokens in its ecosystem as well as its on-chain organization, currently a Multi-sig.
In addition to a rewards points token that has been implemented as a ONCE contract with the ERC20 and non-transferrable plugins, Mingles plans to launch their flagship NFT on ONCE. The Mingles NFT will have the ERC721 plugin, and will have an evolving minting mechanism as the project grows. Initially the Mingles team will install the allowlist minting plugin for the initial phase to only allow certain accounts to mint the NFT. Then they plan to uninstall the allowlist minting plugin and install the token gated minting plugin which will only allow holders of the ERC20 style rewards points token to mint the NFT. Finally they will uninstall the token gated minting plugin and install a standard minting plugin for the final phase which will make the NFT open for all to mint.
Mingles also plans to convert their on-chain organization into a DAO in the future by uninstalling the Multi-sig functionality and installing DAO capabilities when the community is ready.
Next Odyssey DAO
Next Odyssey DAO -- an organization reviving the mission of the original Odyssey DAO built their Gnosis Safe multi-sig on ONCE with the intention of transitioning their organization to a DAO in the near future.
Operating as a Safe has allowed Next Odyssey DAO to commence operations quickly with an on-chain presence while maintaining their flexibility to convert to a DAO. In the near future Next Odyssey DAO will convert their Safe to a Governor DAO without the overhead of deploying a new contract and transferring funds. Their DAO will then be fully compatible with popular tools like Tally.xyz, an industry-standard for DAO UX.
In addition to their on-chain organization, Next Odyssey DAO has deployed their "One in a Million" NFT using ONCE. They installed the balance limit and non-transferrable plugins from the ONCE standard library to make the NFT soulbound with a balance limit of 1.
Without ONCE, Next Odyssey DAO would have been forced to adjust their Safe multi-sig via additional contract deployments or to switch their on-chain presence to a new DAO contract. With ONCE, Next Odyssey DAO can easily convert to a DAO without new contract deployments or having to change their address, transfer funds, etc.
